What Means The Most

Are you a star athlete? Singer? CEO? Are you a very important person?

We all say the cliché "Everybody is important in their own way". Think about that for a second. There aren't millions of people who know our names unless we are considered 'important'. It isn't rude, it is just the way of the world. Some people are big and others are small. We need a perfect balance of both, but it seems that we all want to be important . It's human nature I guess.

But, there is something to be said for the people who don't need their name recognized by the world. For the people who aren't afraid of being small. It sounds crazy, but I don't want my name in lights. I don't want to be known for what I do. I want want to do good work don't get me wrong, but more importantly I want to be known for who I am. For how I make people feel.

If I am a singer, my voice is the only thing that matters to these people. And if I screw up? Well then I am just someone who isn't good enough. People will reflect my person on my abilities. The content of my character, my integrity, my heart, my mind, and my goals will all be linked to to the one ability. I don't want my life to be constricted by something that is supposed to bring joy.

If I were to be known around the world, I would want it to be for who I am and what I stand for. I would rather be 'important' to the few people who really know me than millions that never will. I want my husband to know me, my kids, my coworkers, my mom and dad, my siblings, God, and my dear friends. I am not afraid to be small. I am not afraid to be who I am, regardless of the people who say you need to be somebody in order to be anybody.
